The Best Pears in Town

pears.jpg

I discovered these pears by the recommendations of a friend. They are called Scented Asian Pears and they can be easily found in Chinatown. Unlike other Asian pears, these are more oblong than round in shape. Also, their surface is more uneven and textured than other Asian pears.

But what really sets them apart is how they taste: crispy, sweet, and juicy, with a subtle pleasant scent. Pure goodness! If you have the chance to pass by Chinatown this week, go pick some up at any of the supermarkets. Tell me what you think of them!

TBA – A Cappella Performance

tba_acapella.jpg

To Be Announced is a U of T a capella group and they go by the philosophy that there is more to life than just being really, really, really ridiculously good-looking…and it’s singing hot music with amazingly talented, cool cats.

Sounds good to me. They’re having a spring concert this Saturday. If this sample of their music is to be any indication of the concert, I’d say it’ll be a great show!

When: Sat, March 31, 2007, 7 pm (doors 6:30pm)
Where: Victoria College Chapel (91 Charles Street West, map)
Details: $5 in advance, $8 at the door. Order tickets here.

Your Birthday Party… Tonight!

itsyourbirthday.jpg

If your Facebook “friends” somehow forgot to wish you a Happy Birthday this year, and you ended up spending the evening alone writing vindictive messages on their walls, sketching crappy drawings of your foot (because you had nothing better to draw), and indulging in bland McCain’s Deep ‘n’ Delicious Cake (TM) instead of a decadent Dufflet chocolate mousse cake…

Then it sounds like you need one more chance to do it right!

Tonight, the Whipper Snapper Gallery, is hosting a party – just for you.

Aww… Finally, someone who cares.

When: 8pm.
Where: Whipper Snapper Gallery (587A College Street)
Details: $10. You get a personal cupcake to blow out on your birthday (at midnight), and a bunch of friends who will actually show up for once.
