Have you ever seen on Youtube the performance art pieces by random strangers that take place in the public like the freeze scene at Grand Central Station in New York or the Eaton Center version that took place in Toronto, where a huge group of people all simultaneously stopped and froze in motion for 5 minutes? Ever want to get involved in such an event? Here’s your chance. On Saturday Nov. 8th at the Eaton Center the group Improv In Toronto is organizing a Where’s Waldo game among the unsuspecting shoppers. In case you don’t know what Where’s Waldo is, it’s classic children’s picture book which has pages and pages of interesting and wild scenes populated by hundreds of drawn characters and hidden among them is one distinctive character named Waldo. Waldo is always dressed in red and white stripes with a red and white toque (how Canadian). The point of the picture book is to find Waldo in every scene and, trust me, it’s harder than you would think. Improv in Toronto’s idea is this mad search for one distinctive person, a real Waldo, among the crowd at the Eaton Center. The details are as follows from Improv in Toronto’s Facebook event:
You will arrive at the mall not knowing what you are in for. Soon you’ll be handed a flyer stating that Waldo has gone missing, and when the allotted time arrives, the search begins. You’ll then begin searching, using clues handed to you by the False Waldos and Waldo’s Friends to help find the real Waldo. And when you finally find the real Waldo you will then receive a prize. Afterward feel free to shop around the mall, and enjoy a day in downtown Toronto
You are highly encouraged to bring friends, and the game starts at 2pm. If you want to help run the game and be a false Waldo, join the Waldo Sign-Up Thread, and register (no real name or details needed).
