I Love You…To Death!

Homicidal MusicalIf you haven’t heard of it already, I Love You To Death is an upcoming short film being worked on by a group of Ryerson and U of T students. It’s a musical about Julie (a sweet young girl who’s tired of the city hubbub), Roger (a serial killer), and the love they share. The film claims to have a “hell of a lot of singing, dancing, and gore.”

It’s currently in post-production and the cast/crew of the film is holding a quasi-fundraiser party/concert to raise money for it tomorrow night. It’ll feature the musical stylings of Nolan Natasha, Josh Penslar, as well as Max Galactic and the Cloud of Evil. Parts of the film will be screened, there are prizes, buttons, and shirts and it looks like an all-round homicidal good time.

When: Thursday, March 1st at 8pm.
Where: The El Mocambo – 484 Spadina Ave (just south of College).
Details: $5 to get in.

Campaignvertising

You may have noticed an abundance of new, photocopied posters on campus, sticking out from between things informing you of parties with Jenna Jameson or black-and-white posters telling us to wake up, as we’re being lied to. Then again, you may not have. Posters on campus typically last six hours before they are covered up with something advertising another showing of Dark Side of Oz at the Cineforum.

Regardless, it’s once again campaign time at U of T, meaning that the layer of posters covering Sid Smith will grow ever larger. Continue reading “Campaignvertising”

One cent for Toronto

David Miller is asking for 1 cent of the GST to go to cities… you can find (much) more info on blogTO (from whom I’m poaching this story). If you agree you can sign a petition.

It’s an interesting issue to say the least. We already know many government services are underfunded, but it’s also true that cities need money to grow well. What’s your opinion on the matter?

National Business and Technology Conference 07

University of Toronto NTBC

NBTC is a dynamic convention hosted annually in Toronto, the financial centre of Canada. Now in its seventh year, NBTC is a non-profit student-run initiative which aims to bridge the gap between the seemingly distinct yet highly intertwined fields of business and technology. NBTC recognizes the ever-changing world that we are a part of and offers delegates the resources to adapt to the changes. Through seminars, workshops, keynote speeches, a Recruiter’s Fair, a Dragon’s Den Entrepreneurial Showcase, and a Consulting Case Competition, the conference provides delegates with opportunities to build a strong foundation, enhance their professional growth, and gain a competitive edge.

The conference runs from March 16-17. The cost is $85 for early bird registration (ends March 2nd) and $110 for regular registration. Too expensive? You may be eligible for subsidy depending on your discipline. Continue reading “National Business and Technology Conference 07”
