If you know what a Hammond B3 organ is, there’s somewhere you need to be next Friday night. If you don’t know what a Hammond B3 organ is, there’s somewhere you definitely need to be next Friday night: the Arbor Room at Hart House, at 9pm.
Every Friday night during the school year, there’s a free jazz show in the Arbor Room, called Jazz at Oscar’s. While the shows are always top notch, this particular show has my heart all aflutter. Organ whiz Kyle Koehler is coming in from New York to play with leading guitarist Jake Langley, and the results should be nothing short of magic. Hammond B3 organs produce some of the funkiest, fattest (sic) sounds in electronic jazz that are sure to appeal to all.
