Active U: Get Active and Fight the Winter Blahs

University of Toronto Active U

Active U is an initiative at U of T that encourages students, staff and faculty to increase their participation in daily physical activity. It sounds like a great initiative. Haven’t heard of it before? Well, you couldn’t have picked a better time to find out about it!

Next week, from February 5th to 9th, Active U is holding the Active U Caravan: a five-day celebration of sport, dance and movement. Participants can sample a range of activities, including belly dancing, European handball, Polish folk dance, Finnish baseball and Brazilian martial arts. The best part? It’s all FREE! Check their website for a full list of courses, activities, and times. However, you have to sign up for the courses, and spots are limited. By the time I signed up (I signed up for Latin Dancing and Capoeira), the Belly Dancing class had only four spots left. So sign up quick. Sign up details after the flip.

Sign up is online through econnect (click here). You’ll need a Login ID and an Account PIN. If you’re a U of T student, and you’ve never used the econnect system before, simply click on “Forgot My Login ID/PIN” (DO NOT click on “Create New Account”) and enter your email address as it appears on ROSI. You’ll get an email with your Login ID and PIN shortly. After you’re logged in, you’re can sign up for the Active U Caravan courses for free!

Alternatively, you can drop by the Athletic Centre, or give them a call: (416) 978-3436.
