Thursday, April 19th, 2007

ciw.gif We all know it’s exam week… but did you know it’s also Creativity and Innovation Week this week, leading up to April 21, Creativity and Innovation Day?

Creativity and Innovation Day is a celebration of the unlimited creative potential in all of us. Its goal is to raise awareness of the opportunity to unleash creativity from within – within ourselves, our families, our communities, our workplaces, our city, our country and our world.

That sounds good to me!

Here’s a calendar of events for the week in Toronto. Unfortunately, we’ve missed quite a few days of the week already. But not to worry, we haven’t missed Creativity and Innovation Day itself. What should you do on Creativity and Innovation Day? Here are some suggestions: 10 Ways to Celebrate Creativity at Home!

Fujiya & Miyagi

Wednesday, April 18th, 2007

So, here’s another exam study break post.

The above is the video for Collarbone, a great song by Brittish Electronica/Krautrock band Fujiya & Miyagi. These guys make good music. Even Pitchfork gave them a highly rated review for their most recent album (and we all know pitchfork are snobbiest of the music mags). Be warned though, the video is all “awww, cute” till about the halfway mark. Then everything goes to BLOODY hell!!

Fujiya & Miyagi are playing in town at the Phoenix on Saturday May 6th, opening for Peter Bjorn And John. Unfortunately, the tickets are sold out out out. So, you’ll have to find creative ways to get your hands on a pair. Scalpers are making a killing on Craigslist.

So we know you’re probably studying for exams. We also know every good study period needs a good study break. So here’s your 5 minutes of distraction and fun!

The International Design Magazine has answered a golden question for us: “How many designers does it take to design the perfect place to lose your virginity?”

Odds are, if we could do it again, there’d be candles and soft sheets. But in reality, most of us were deflowered in a haze of alcohol or teenage self-doubt. For an issue devoted to life’s milestones, I.D. asked six eros-minded designers to create the perfect space for sexual initiation.

Okay, now back to the books!
