ROM, the Unveiling!
May 6th, 2007 by Alice Image from the ROM webcam
Clear your calendar on June 2! After several odd years of construction, a lot of concrete dust, and what seems like strange hardened (and I might add, rusted) pieces of large steel beams and clear surreal chunks of glass is FINALLY coming together. The museum will be unveiling the Lee-Chin Crystal addition on June 2, 2007. To commemorate the dusty end of construction and to sweep the era of a new museum experience, ROM will invite the public to attend for FREE beginning at 8:00pm on the ROM Plaza. Formal ceremonies (yes, they have a formal ceremony!) will begin at 9:30pm.
Although its free, tickets are required. The free tickets can be picked up at the Loblaws entrance (on the south side) at ROM on a first come, first serve basis starting earlier that day.
Where: Entry to the Lee-Chin Crystal and the rest of the ROM will be through the ROM’s new entrance on Bloor Street.
When:June 2 for the free tickets. Onwards for the new Lee-Chin Crystal viewing.
Cost: Free
There will also be a World of Possibilities Concert, a 75 minute live concert event with star performances on three stages, starting at 9:30pm. It takes place on ROM Plaza, directly in-front of the Lee-Chin Crystal on Bloor Street. It will also be broadcasted on a A 30 ft. high screen located near Bloor St. West and Philosophers’ Walk.
