May should officially be named Festival Month in Toronto. There’s a ridiculous number of festivals going on this month: Contact Photography, Festival of Architecture and Design, and this week, we have the Inside Out Lesbian and Gay Film and Video Festival kicking off.
The Inside Out Festival runs from Thrusday May 17th – Sunday May 27th. There’s a great selection of films, from the Wong Kar-Wai classic Happy Together, to the Korean blockbuster The King and the Clown, to films I’ve never heard of before but would really like to see, like Eternal Summer. (Okay, I confess to have put an Asian cinema bent on my film picks, but the festival has a great selection of films from all over the world). Check out the schedule of films here.
Also tonight, there’s a screening by the Toronto Animated Image Society screening, a film programme highlighting the best short films from the 2006 Ottawa International Animation Festival.
Then this Friday, there’s a fantastic looking Japanese Film Survive Style 5+ screening by the Canada Japan Society of Toronto. Also, Infest Wisely is screening at Innis Town Hall, but the Torontoist posted on it, so I’ll simply link to their post.
Check out the links below for event details.
