ESU Presents: The Great Gatsby Affair
April 14th, 2008 by JPI’ve gotta hand it to them, the ESU (English Student Union) is a pretty hip crowd. A while back, they held the Poetry Massacre, and now they’re throwing another event of literally awesome proportions!
Get ready for the Great Gatsby Affair: The Grit and Glam of the Roaring 20’s. Dress sharply (1920’s costume/semi-formal dress code in effect) and come for the fun: hors d’oeuvres, deserts, alcohol (by cash bar), live jazz music, swing dancing lessons, and costume prizes awarded to best male and female ensemble. The event also marks the launch of the 2008 edition of IDIOM, the academic journal published annually by the ESU.
When: Friday, April 18, 2008. Doors open at 8:30pm
Where: The Debates Room, Hart House,
Details: Tickets are $10. Please bring valid ID to purchase alcohol. You can find out more details on the facebook event page.

After my grade 12 class read The Great Gatsby, we held a “Gatsby party”. Each of us drew a name of a famous person of the era and dressed up as him or her for a party of punch, piano, and the Charleston. I was Herbert Hoover.
I’m interested in the event, but it’s exam season.

This is so damn cool. Too bad I’m busy and don’t own a flapper dress (maybe next year I’ll have an excuse to get one).

As part of my best opinion blogUT | University of Toronto Blog » Blog Archive » ESU Presents: The Great Gatsby Affair is really a carefully prepared narrative. Most definately a good idea talking about and as a consequence very well worth bringing up https://blogut.ca/2008/04/14/esu-presents-the-great-gatsby-affair/trackback in the process. All the best, Roxane Verona
