U of T and the Community!

On Saturday, September 27th, the Centre for Community Partnerships will be organizing oUTreach. This is a day of community service to help connect students, staff, and faculty to the greater community. What originally started as a small group of U of T students determined to bring National Ghandi Day of Service to Canada, is now an annual event that spans across U of T’s three campuses and involves over 1000 participants. This year, a large variety of activities have been arranged with oUTreach community partners in the GTA, including tree-planting and environmental cleanups for a local watershed, nail painting for a women’s shelter, organizing a sports clinic at a local community centre, or updating the layout of an agency’s website. There is something of interest for everyone and plenty of opportunities where participants can utilize their skills and knowledge. Participants can use oUTreach as an opportunity to expose themselves to different social issues, meet other like-minded individuals, strengthen their social networks, or to simply have fun. Though it may only be for a day, indulge your civic-minded self and involve yourself in the community.

So, as the new school year rolls around and students once again fill the campus in a flurry of activity, I’m in a strangely different position. This Tuesday, I finally handed in all the paper work necessary for the completion of my Master’s degree, wrapping up a 6 year stint here at the University of Toronto. I can’t help but feel a little nostalgic already. It’s been quite a learning experience indeed, and I know I’m going to miss it. So, before I leave, let me share with you 6 things I learned in my 6 years here. It took me a while to figure these things out… but you know what they say, better late then never.

Well, better earlier than late! You get to know them now if you read on. Continue reading Six Things I Wish I Knew During My Six Years at U of T

Welcome back everyone! As we all know school is about to start, which means that you should be getting ready to attend not only classes, but also a wide range of events and activities that U of T has to offer. Because of its size (50, 219 undergraduates and 10, 991 graduates students), the University of Toronto provides students with a great variety of sources to explore their passions and interests. BlogUT is aware of the daunting task of finding out about news, events, student clubs, and all information of interest to U of T students; therefore, our goal is to keep you inform and up-to-date. We believe blogUT will allow you to get more involve and more immersed in the multitude of things taking place on campus. We invite you to check out the blog as often as you want!! And please feel free to contact us at anytime.

We are also constantly looking for writers, contributors, photographers, webmasters, or simply anyone who would like to be part of the blog! No previous experience needed.

Drop us a line at [email protected]

If you are part of the U of T community, and even if you’re not, we highly encourage you to submit any event that you would like us to review or promote! For now, enjoy your last week before school starts and tan responsibly.
