In its 25th year, the Vegetarian Food Fair isn’t just for those who’ve gone meatless. With over a hundred exhibitors to visit, anyone who is a budding vegetarian, environmentally-conscious, interested in healthy living, or just looking to try new foods will discover something interesting.

Whether you are a vegetarian or meat-lover, you will want to try some of the faux-meat dishes offered at one of the many food booths. As a seasoned vegetarian, I was particularly pleased with the veggie drumsticks from King’s Cafe. If imitation meat is not your style, you can also find a few meat dishes here and there.

Satisfy your sweet tooth with a large variety of vegan desserts, many of which you can sample for free, in case you are wary of how baked goods could be free of eggs, butter, and milk (you know you are).

Walking around, I discovered the Team GTA Chiropractors giving massages, as well as a farmer’s market. Several animal activism groups were looking for volunteers, selling various paraphernalia, and promoting their cause. There was even an adorable ferret up for adoption from the Ferret Aid Society.

I wasn’t able to see any of them, but there are numerous cooking demonstrations and presentations scheduled throughout the event. The Vegetarian Food Fair has something for everyone; check it out this weekend til Sunday at the Harbourfront Centre.

No but there were a lot of samples because I think they wanted to get people to try their stuff :)

Lori, There was NO meat at the Annual Vegetarian Food Fair, but near the sidewalk were some hot dog sellers. Some places had very convincing meat like dishes with meaty names, but it was all faux. Lots of great regular veggie food too. If you missed it, come down next year.
