Can’t Wait for Christmas!
So, in the holiday season inundated with cheesy jingles and repetitive displays, why is blogUT puggling a “Can’t Wait for Chistmas!” website? Well, maybe because the site is built by U of T students and the simple mission statement is quite endearing:
in the spirit of holidays, countdowns, and dreams, take a minute and share what you can’t wait for this Christmas!
Hey, I appreciate the sentiment, and I’m not even Christian.
But perhaps more touching is what people have shared: the reasons they can’t wait for Christmas. Of course, many comments, like this one by Graf1771, run along the lines of
Seeing friends, getting drunk, dancing like a fool. Oh, and maybe some nice presents too.
And then we have the endearing comments like
The look on my fiance’s face when she opens her gift
posted by pistalwhipped. More interesting are the cryptic comments like Jill’s. Why can’t she wait for Christmas?
My family get together. When my family gets together they really get together, if you know what I mean. Wink Wink, Nudge Nudge.
No Jill… we don’t know what you mean. And I’m not sure I’d want to know. But the most moving are the ones with raw, honest emotion. Jay T writes:
I’m depressed. I didn’t get into med school, I’m bored out of my mind, and I’m lonely as hell. I’m looking forward to Christmas to see my family, friends, and maybe get out of this rut.
