Hottest Male Profs at U of T

There’s this rumour floating around that U of T students are super nerds who only care about their grades and have no social lives. What is never mentioned during this idle chit chat is WHY we care about our grades so much. I’m here to dispel the secret. Are you ready?

We have some hot, scrumptious professors! Not only are they aesthetically gifted, they’re smart. What’s hotter than a smart, hot person? A smart, hot person with authority!

Now, now. I know you’re thinking, This is so superficial, and that I’m taking away from these professors’ brilliance. To that I say, calm down. Pick your head up out of your physics textbook or notes about revolution in Colombia, and take a moment. Walk with me for just a few minutes, and remember that we are young and thus required by law and our biology to take note of good-looking humans.

I’m not the only one who feels this way. There are Facebook groups, websites, and blogs devoted to amazing and gorgeous professors. They make sitting through long lectures in uncomfortable chairs worth it.

So who are some of these intellectual hotties? (AND WHEN ARE THEIR OFFICE HOURS?!) We at blogUT asked around, and came up with a list of twelve, whom we now present to you:

12. Nick Mount (English, UTSG)

11. Jeffrey Kopstein (Political Science, UTSG)

10. Ben Akrigg (Classics, UTSG)

We couldn’t find any photos of Professor Akrigg on the Internet, which is unfortunate, so we have to settle for this placeholder image he uses on his website.

9. Anthony Ruocco (Psychology, UTSC)

8. Dustin Stokes (Philosophy, UTSC)

Our sources say that this photo doesn’t do him justice

7. Scott Browning (Chemistry, UTSG)

6. Michael Reid (Astronomy, UTSG)

5. Darrell Desveaux (Cell & Systems Biology, UTSG)

“I would take his class again just to see him :P ” — BIO241 student

4. Geordie Richards (Math, UTSG)

3. Jens Wollesen (Fine Art, UTSG)

There is actually a Facebook group devoted to this silver fox entitled “Marry me, Jens T. Wollesen!“

Hurrah! A group for anyone who wishes to celebrate the wonderful Jens in all his glory. We liked your paintings of your cat Jens, your delightful life stories, and your quirky fondness for the word “actually”. And let’s face it, you’re a bit of a hearthrob. But we mean that in an entirely uncreepy way.
Cheers to the real reason we all stuck with FAH100!

2. Mark Kingwell (Philosophy, UTSG)

He was in the documentary movie “The Corporation” and also has a Facebook group too, called “I Heart Mark Kingwell”!

We don’t care that he sold out and is affliated with Trin One. We don’t care that he did his undergrad at SMC. We didn’t think it was pretentious of him to quote himself in our exam. In fact, we thought it was precious. We also don’t care that he now teaches his first year class in Bader (further distancing himself from smelly first-years). G.I.T. forever!

1. Sean Uppal (Math, UTSG)

We couldn’t find any photos of Professor Uppal, which is a shame because he is a tall drink of water. A scruffy, fashionable math genius? Yes please!

You might disagree with this selection of hot profs, but to each their own. You might even have some hot profs of your own, in which case, you should absolutely let us know because we care a little bit too much about this kind of thing. Either way, hot professors exist, and a lot of them are right here in our nerdy home.

It actually pains me to realize that I haven’t had a single hot prof during all my four years at U of T. Le sigh…

  2. iSchooler Says:

This thread is useless without Matt Ratto at the iSchool. Just saying.

  3. Anon Says:

Excuse me, where is Kevin O’Neill (Religion)!? Definitely outranks quite a few of these guys, hands down. http://www.religion.utoronto.ca/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/kevin.oneill.jpg

  4. Anon 2 Says:

Anthony Gramolini from the Physio department at UTSG.

I don’t really remember what his name was..but I took a bioethics class at UTM. Young prof, early 30s. And he dressed really well. Ughh!!! I wanted! But I can’t remember the name!

  8. Pikachu Says:

Stephen Biggs in the philosophy department is also good looking, too.

  10. I'm still in that class, so: anonymous Says:

Todd Hall in Poli Sci is pretty damn handsome. Great voice, too.

  11. Andrea Says:

Awesome blog post to find here! Glad some UTSC profs made it on here. But how did these profs get on the list and get ranked? Just by sheer numbers of those who you surveyed?

  12. Lori | Co-Editor Says:

It was more or less arbitrary; it’s more that we’re numbering them rather than ranking them.

  13. Zainab Says:

SO delighted that I minored in Math because I had Sean Uppal last semester (I attended all his lectures, wonder why?) and Geordie Richards this whole year. Yay hot profs :)

  14. MissInformed Says:

Some of the profs are really cute!! Stokes is a def. hottie. I think the list should also include, ENG Prof. G.Dolan who is very handsome and charismatic, as well as ENG Prof A. Dubois who has an very sweet southern charm and is easy on the eyes. Both Profs are @ UTSC, which only made the list twice tsk tsk… kinda glad I dnt go to UTM J\K ;)

  15. please Says:

Can we please drop the use of UTSG to refer to the downtown campus? It looks almost identical to UTSC and will only cause confusion. This is a case of UAS – useless acronym syndrome.

  16. also Says:

    Hottest female profs too please!

  17. Kelley Says:

I had Prof Akrigg for Ancient Greek history, best 3 hours of my week ;) LOL he comes complete with like a british accent lol

  18. saleema Says:

Send in suggestions for female profs and it will be done.
Also, I’m realizing how deprived I have been of hot professors. I’ve had a couple but apparently they’re all hiding in the math and science departments. Damn arts : (

  19. justine abigail | Co-Editor Says:

Holy whoa, I am loving the response on this blog post!

Gramolini totally looks like James Franco (my BF) and just for that we need to start a part 2 of this post!

We need female hot profs too!! Why have I had zero good looking profs…male or female?!

  35. RS Says:

  36. Incis Says:

Professor Jordan Peterson (Psychology) should be Nr. 1 on the list, at least on my list he is ;) Not only is he hot, he has style and he resembles Jeremy Irons. Plus icing on the cake – his lectures are very original and interesting.

  37. anon Says:

Hands down, Adam Hammond (English, St George). Beautiful to the point that I lose focus.

  38. Adam D. Says:

There seriously needs to be a “Hottest Female Profs at UofT”, too!
LOl. So I can take their classes and lose focus while invariably daydreaming. *ahem* Lol. But yeah. Can someone do one? I’ll buy you lunch! Haha.

  41. physo Says:

    joseph thywissen is good lookin

  42. Schadenfreude Says:

Oh man, Dr. Uppal is my #1 choice as well. I spent many hours admiring him from behind in MAT196. Luckily he couldn’t hear any of my thoughts, yowza. He’s a bit of a cranky Dr. House in person though.

My huge crush was on Dr. Shai Cohen who taught MAT197, though. He has a more nerdy look, but nothing sets my ovaries afire quite like the truly nerdy discourse that fellow could muster. Good with kids, too, but happily married. Wistful sigh~

  43. ISurvivedUTSC! Says:

Zachariah should defanitely be at the top of the list, BUT why would he wear the same facial hair like his hero Zakzanis?!?! Makes him look like a lap dog! He should be his own MAN! Also, when I was around, my favorite prof (and pretty hot) was Dr. Amitay. Plus he teaches SEX at Ryerson! http://www.docamitay.com (I don’t know how to get just his pic but his site has his pic on it)

  44. Ash Says:

    No Leo Goldmakher??

  45. 4 hour diet Says:

  46. Lita Says:

Zachariah Campbell, Zachariah Campbell, ZACHARIAH CAMPBELL!!!

  47. NA Says:

Zachariah Campbell!!!!!!!!!!! Oh my I used to think of random question to ask him just so I could talk to him. He had me drooling every class

  48. Sophie Says:

Scott Rayter! I could listen to him lecture forever.

  49. Jackie Says:

12/12 are caucasoid (using the social definition of race, as biological races dont exist)
    11/12 are white

compare to the average demographics of this campus

same thing if you look at the chili pepper distributions on rate my professor

95 percent of hot male profs are white

hot female profs are well represented by all races

  50. Ivy Says:

For the professors who have no picture…most of you people have cell phones, right? Well, GET STALKING! :p

    (Seriously, though…get some pictures!)
