After last week’s first Hottest Male Profs at U of T post, we received so many more suggestions that we just HAD to make an entirely new list. After all, we shouldn’t let this ability to spread the wealth go to waste.

This batch is as yummy, if not better, than the last. I wonder if their enrollment numbers will go up next year.

12. Matt Ratto (Faculty of Information)

11. Kevin O’Neill (Religion)

10. Anthony Gramolini (Physiology, St. George)

9. John Stinchcombe (EEB & CSB, St. George)

8. Tony Lam (Physiology)

7. Robert McGill (English)

6. Todd Hall (Political Science, UTM)

5. Stephen Biggs (Philosophy, St. George)

4. Neal Dolan (English, UTSC)

3. Andrew Dubois (English, UTSC)

2. Jason Harlow (Physics, St. George)

1. Nicholas Rule (Psychology, St. George)

Hm… Gramolini looks great on paper and from afar, but I do have to say his fashion sense is kind of… odd. Lots of sweaters and vests, like the kind you wear when you go hiking. Didn’t stop me from imagining I was in a cozy cabin snugging lin the fireplace while he was lecturing in conhall though…

I also had no idea Tony Lam looked like that. He didn’t look that great to me when he was lecturing.

I don’t think Stinchcombe looks /hot/ perse, but he was definitely cute (and one of the better bio150 lecturers I had last year)

This batch is wayyyyy better than the last batch, for sure.

  2. Hmmmmm Says:

  15. Samantha Says:

Only professors? This graduate student teaches calc and he’s beyond hot. Anyone agree on Elio Mazzeo?

  16. Bobo McGee Says:

Yeah, this is a good use of your intellectual energy. It’s actually no better than a dumb frat guy’s website of Hott Chix. Why use THAT as your standard of behavior? Then after this you ladies will complain you’re not taken as seriously as your male counterparts. You: “But why? All I did was post a hot hot hot profs website! Tell me why I’ve lost your academic respect.” Well, I’ll tell you. It has to do with absorbing the establishment’s language and way of reducing people according to a marketplace mentality: “Who’s hot, who’s not?” As academics you’re “supposed” to be analyzing the words and language and cultural gestures and images that we “civilians” simply take for granted. You’re supposed to be more self-aware of what you’re doing, how society is influencing you and where you stand in relation to that trickle-down corporate, imposed way of viewing others. You’re supposed to be expanding your mind, resisting the establishment and adding to the toolbox of your intellectual repertoire, not assimilating establishment thinking so that you’ll be nothing but a stooge after graduation who does not think outside of approved modes of thought. “Hooz hot! Hooz not! Woo-hoo!” Equal opportunity morons.

  17. Koala Says:

Bobo, you bring up a valid point.
I am visiting this place with ulterior motives (not to drool over professors), and I do agree that this is objectification. However, I think it’s a bit unfair to blanket-statement (yes, using that as a verb) women in your argument, as you stated that these women would not be taken as seriously as their ‘male counter-parts’ upon embarking on such an endeavor…how is that a valid statement? If the original poster were to be scrutinized in an intellectual or social context or have their academic credibility questioned due to the nature of such a post, why would it have to reflect badly on all women in academia and why because she’s female? You speak of resisting the establishment, but your argument seems based on a facet of the establishment.

Believe me, I really agree with the general message of your comment, especially the point you raise on reducing people according to a market place mentality. There’s a deep sadness and hopelessness surrounding the idea of having to address the fact that despite the best efforts of these professors and teachers who work so hard to instill a different standard on the way they may view the world, people who obtain university degrees continue to retain such cognitive patterns. Hell, it’s really sad that anybody at all can think like that. I suppose it’s a fair guess that the “hot” factor could have something to do with these students getting to know these people, and it could be that it’s not just the looks that make these women look twice…I’m not sure, though. What I am very sure of is that there is far more to people than physicality, and so few people are able to see past it and it keeps the cycle moving.

It also sucks that you’ll probably never read this comment so we could keep the conversation moving… :)
